There's No Place Like Home

Well, the dirty clothes suitcase is now stuffed full, the kids' vitamin bottle is empty, the car snacks have all been eaten, the travel toothpaste tubes are all squished, and Ethan has colored his USA map with license plates from everywhere except for Hawaii, Alaska, and North Dakota  -- vacation must be over.  We left Georgia bound for Virginia, and then PA.
We managed to find one last "Drive-In" from Guy's show, The Beacon Drive-In in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  It was a hit -- good food, and lots of fun to hear the guys call out the orders!

Then it was northward to our last hotel.  We arrived in time for a beautiful sunset, and a trip to the hot tub and pool.

We stopped at Shenandoah Caverns on our final day.  A really cool (both literally and figuratively) place for a break while driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Then it was a few more perilous highway stops for the state line signs, and then, after 3882 miles, we were finally home.

I love the Sheetz van that we followed for a while which stated that Life's a trip everyday -- we have certainly had a trip of a lifetime, and we are already scheming for next year, so stay tuned!

  1. Welcome home! Just spent about 5 days at the beach and am now just catching up on blog reading.
Sue, you did a wonderful job of documenting your trip and fun times. Your kids will surely appreciate this when they get older. And talk about taking a lot of photos! You got me beat by a mile. m.
