The Big Easy Day 1

We spent two fun filled days in New Orleans.
In that time, we managed to eat the requisite shrimp po-boy,  muffuletta, pralines, and beignets -- all wonderfully yummy.

We loved the 95 degree weather with 100% humidity (please read with all the sarcasm that this statement deserves), and the kids really enjoyed the hotel pool and hot tub.

The St. Charles line of the streetcar conveniently had a stop right in front of our hotel. The kids had fun riding on the streetcar, and we all enjoyed a car-free day!

We rode the trolley to and from the French Quarter where we paid too much money to ride in a "mule" drawn-carriage -- the kids' really did not care about listening to the tour of New Orleans, they were only concerned with whose turn it was to ride on the top!
We also took a ferry ride on the mighty Mississippi River which provided some fantastic views of the city along with an air-conditioned seat!

We took in as many sights as possible, and picked up as many Mardi Gras beads as we found, then ate dinner at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. where we were all reminded that life is like a box of chocolates.  Finally, we (well "some" of we) ended our day playing in the passing rainstorm on our way back to the hotel.

NOT the 2nd most photographed view in the US!

Tune in tomorrow for coverage of our swamp tour!
