Deep in the Heart of Texas

We forced the kids out of their beds early in the morning so we could begin the 8 hour drive from New Orleans, LA to San Antonio, TX our final destination.

Along the way, we stopped at yet another Food Network find -- Taco Sisters in Lafayette, LA.  This stop was a winner!  Beef Brisket burritos with a spicy chipotle-adobo sauce, smoked chicken tacos with a jalapeno-lime glaze, Louisiana gulf yellowfin tuna taco with a soy-ginger glaze .... yummm.  If you are ever near this restaurant, check it out!

We finally crossed over the state line into Texas about half way through our day.  At the rest stop where we stopped to take the obligatory pictures, Ethan found a giant grasshopper proving that "everything really is bigger in Texas"!

We got to our cousin's ranch in the early evening, and the kids were in the pool within minutes acting like old friends although they hadn't seen each other in the 3 years since they moved to Texas.

The ranch also has a really cool tree house with a zipline which the kids all rode (well, not Cowboy Charlie)!

The kids are all settling into the ranch lifestyle quite well ...

... and Joy and I are soaking up some liquid fortification for the trip to Sea World tomorrow!
buenos noches, amigos

  1. How do you guys do this? And, make it look so easy? I would slice my wrists before traveling to Texas with my gang. I just couldn't do it.
