Today I am thankful for trash day. I thought that I was simply going to change the sheets on Charlie's bed this afternoon, but 5 hours later, I have changed his whole room instead. Somehow one thing led to another and soon I was dismantling his Thomas the Tank bed (which will soon be posted on Craig's List should anybody want it!),
and putting a "big boy" bed in his room.
Of course, I could not leave well-enough alone because then I began going through all his trains, books and matchbox cars organizing and throwing as I went -- there is something so satisfying in lugging a big bag of trash to the curb (Mark, you should be so proud of me!!)
Sadly, there are still approximately 4,310 books and toys still in the room, but at least they are sorted and organized!
Last week, it was a couch by the curb, this week a mattress ...
I still remember the day we bought this crib mattress -- I was pregnant with Hannah and the sales person was trying to upsell us to the more expensive mattress. He asked how many kids we were planning on having since, in theory, the more kids that potentially would be sleeping (and jumping) on it, the better the mattress we should consider. We told the man, "one" and bought the cheap mattress. 12 years and 4 kids later, the mattress has finally made it's way to the trash!
It was so very hard for me not to rescue Buzz (and other memories in the form of toys) from Sue's clean sweep Sunday. I have a number of items in my car trunk and at my office that have been saved from the trash heap. But, in an effort not to become the next big star on "Hoarders: Toys," I got in my car and drove away. I am truly sorry, Buzz...
