"Chicken ... NOT"

Today I am thankful that my children are not chickens.  No, not the Frank Purdue kind of chickens, rather the scaredy-cat kind.

I am.
A chicken, that is.
The scaredy-cat kind.
Eleanor Roosevelt said, "Do one thing every day that scares you."   Well, I was scared simply taking pictures of my children as they climbed high up in the air oblivious to fear.  I don't think that my kids even took the time to consider being scared, it just didn't occur to them, they just took off into the sky.
Life is a gift that is meant to be lived and enjoyed and celebrated.  I am proud that my children do not let fear rule their lives, that they are not afraid to experiment and explore.
I am thankful that my children live their life with abandon, that they run willingly into the world screaming, "Here I am"!  I am inspired by their zest for life and their unbridled joy (but you still won't see me dancing on a tiny wire 80 feet in the air)!
To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily. To not dare is to lose oneself.  -- Soren Kierkeaard
Although my feet remain firmly planted on the ground, I am thankful that my childrens' feet soar in the air along with their hopes and dreams.
P.S. I am also very thankful for strong belayers, tight harnesses, and steel carabiners which kept my children safe during said soaring!!
