Triskaidekaphobia? Not here!

Being a non-superstitious family, we set off for our summer vacation bright and early on Friday the 13th.  Armed with my new camera (thanks to my little brother for buying the camera I have been coveting therefore, along with my rain-soaked & non-working old camera, giving me reason to buy one too!), and my AAA Triptik (specially made for me by my friend Lisa in MA!!) we set off for New England, first stop Mystic, CT.
We visited the Mystic Aquarium which had a stunning beluga whale exhibit,

some cool "caves" to play in,
an indoor/outdoor/underwater penguin viewing area,
As you can tell, Charlie was more than happy to help me try out my new camera!

some amazing jellyfish,
hand-on exeriences with baby sharks, small sea creatures, and rays,

a Titanic exhibit,
and, of course, a sea lion show -- where Ethan got chosen from the audience to compete in a whistle-blowing contest with a sea lion!

and the winner is ... NOT Ethan!
After visiting the aquarium, my own little fish had their turn to swim, as I played around with the settings on my new camera.

haven't figured out this setting yet!

The following day, we went to Mystic Seaport where we had fun learning all about life in a seaport village in the 1800's.

Outhouse ...

Ahoy Matey!

Ethan got picked to participate in an interactive play about whalers

After our day at Mystic Seaport, we were headed to Cape Cod.  Joy was thrilled that two of the three "mandatory" road sign stops at state lines were on the left side of the road, but we managed to get the photo without getting hit or getting a nail in our tire!

So far, it seems that we have escaped any bad luck associated with departing on Friday the 13th -- we will keep our fingers crossed that our good luck continues (not that we are superstitious)!!

  1. It looks like your new camera is as good as the old one! I think it is probably the person behind it. :)
Tell Ethan - that's NOT the way I taught you to salute!
He looks so cute. I miss him very much!
